It should be one great day of football on Sunday when the AFC and NFC championship games take place. With the final four being arguably the four best – and most complete – teams from the regular season, picking a winner is not as easy as it sounds. Which teams do you think will play in Super Bowl XLVIII? On the AFC side, the great quarterback rivalry between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady will have another chapter written as the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots square off at Mile High Stadium. The action can be seen live on CTV with coverage beginning at 2pm et/11am pt. Brady and Manning have played each other 14 times over their careers, with the Patriot pivot taking 10 of those matchups including two out of three in the playoffs. New England came back from 24 points down to beat Denver 34-31 in overtime back in Week 12 to hand the Broncos one of only three losses this season. On paper, the Patriots really have no business being where they are today due to injuries, namely the one to Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski, as well as the offseason departures of Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez. Yet, Brady and head coach Bill Belichick have found a way to be successful. The Broncos, on the other hand, have been a juggernaut offensively all season long with Manning leading the league in passing yards with 5,477 and team offence with 457.3 yards per game. Most would likely say Manning is under more pressure to win this game than Brady simply due to the fact that he has more to work with. But, Manning has a sub-par 10-11 post-season record. Neither club has been great defensively with the Pats and Broncos ranked 26th and 19th respectively in yards per game allowed. Whatever the result, two of greatest quarterbacks in football history shouldnt disappoint in terms of excitement and drama. In the NFC, its a battle of the next generation of quarterbacks as Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers face off against Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks at the very loud CenturyLink Field. The action can be seen live on CTV starting at 6:30pm et/3:30pm pt. The 49ers – arguably the most complete team in the NFL – have won eight straight games and are the best road team in the league with an 8-2 regular season/playoff record. But their challenge lies in the Seahawks, who have lost just once at home over the past two seasons thanks in large part to their roaring crowd, nicknamed "The 12th Man." The division rivals split their two matchups this season. The strength of Seattle all year long has been its league-leading defence helmed by cornerback Richard Sherman. Sherman led the NFL with eight interceptions. Yet their offence is another story. Wilson hasnt had a multiple touchdown performance since Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints and his passer rating has dropped 31.1 points since the game. The status of Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin is still up in the air after he suffered a concussion last Sunday in divisional play against the Saints. If the 49ers defence prevents running back Marshawn Lynch from entering "Beast Mode" like he did last week, they stand a good chance of winning if Wilson cant find his groove. With so many intriguing story lines, this matchup has the makings of a classic. The question is: Who you think has what it takes to win the AFC and NFC title games and punch their ticket to New Jersey for Super Bowl XLVIII? Its Your! Call. Wholesale Mariners Jerseys .Y. - Geno Smith shouted a couple of mighty expensive expletives. Cheap Mariners Jerseys . Needing to bulk up on both sides of the line, the Falcons agreed to terms with guard Jon Asamoah, defensive end Tyson Jackson and defensive tackle Paul Soliai. Crawford hit seven 3s on his way to 24 points, and the Clippers beat the Pelicans 123-110 on Monday night. "We understand what we do well. If we all do what we do well, well make our team stronger," Crawford said. Stitched Mariners Jerseys . Speaking on Leafs Lunch with Bryan Hayes and Jamie McLennan on Thursday, Bernier said it was "very hard" at times being entrenched behind Jonathan Quick and is now excited at the prospect of getting an opportunity to compete with Reimer for the top spot with the Leafs. Seattle Mariners Pro Shop . "Im very pleased to be able to add a quarterback with Adrians experience and skill set," Calgary head coach and general manager John Hufnagel said in a statement.BALTIMORE -- As rain washed over Camden Yards, Brandon Workman found his happy place underneath the stadium seating bowl. Workman maintained his pitching rhythm in a batting cage during the second of two rain delays. Upon his return, the right-hander was virtually unhittable. Workman allowed one single over 6 2-3 innings, and the Boston Red Sox beat Chris Tillman and the Baltimore Orioles 1-0 on Tuesday night for their second win in eight games. Mike Napolis third-inning RBI single was all the offence the Red Sox needed to come out on the positive end of a pitchers duel for the first time this season. Boston was 0-18 when scoring fewer than three runs. Workman (1-0) walked one and struck out four in earning his first win as a starter since last July. He held the Orioles hitless until Ryan Flaherty lined a soft single to centre with two outs in the sixth. Workman had to overcome two stoppages, both in the second inning. The first lasted 15 minutes, the second 1:18. "It wasnt that bad," Workman said. "I went down and threw in the batting cage a little bit to stay loose, to stay ready." After retiring Nick Markakis to end the sixth inning, Workman got two straight outs in the seventh before being lifted. It was the longest outing of a 27-game career that includes seven starts. "He was outstanding, especially in light of the two different rain delays," Boston manager John Farrell said. "He was able to stay loose with a couple of almost simulated innings in the batting cage." Workman retired the first 13 batters before Nelson Cruz drew a walk. J.J. Hardy followed with a popup to second base, and Cruz took off for second and was easily doubled up. "Its no excuse," Cruz said. "I should know better. It shouldnt have happened." Earlier, Boston third baseman Xander Bogaerts robbed the Orioles of two potential hits in the third inning. He snagged a bunt by David Lough and threw out the fleet runner, then made a diving stab of a line drive by Flaherty. The no-hit bid gained steam later, but Workman said, "I was not really thinking about it. I was just trying to stay in the moment and keep executing pitches and keep working each batter. Not getting ahead of myself." Workman will have a hearing Friday on his appeal of a six-game suspension.dddddddddddd He was suspended after the league determined he was intentionally throwing in the "head area" of Tampa Bays Evan Longoria on May 30. If he is forced to miss time, Workman certainly went out on a high note. "Honestly, when we started back up, I thought if he got through four innings that might be enough for tonight," Farrell said. "But as efficient as he was, as strong as he was, he just kept putting up zeroes and retiring guys consecutively so we continued to stay with him." Baltimores only other hit was a single by Steve Pearce in the ninth off Koji Uehara, who earned his 13th save. Tillman (5-3) gave up one run and seven hits in six innings. It was his first loss in six starts since May 11. "Tough conditions tonight for both teams but you wont hear any excuses from us," the right-hander said Manny Machado started at third base for the Orioles despite receiving a five-game suspension and a fine for intentionally throwing his bat in Sundays game against Oakland. Machado appealed the suspension, batted second and went 0 for 4, making the final out on a strikeout. Tillman got off to a rocky start following the second rain delay. Brock Holt led off the third with a single, David Ortiz walked and Napoli delivered a two-out, opposite-field RBI single to right. Boston used three straight singles to load the bases with no outs in the fourth. Tillman struck out Holt, then got Bogaerts to bounce into a 6-4-3 double play. Over the first four innings, the Red Sox had seven hits and three walks but scored only the one run after stranding seven and hitting into two double plays. NOTES: Red Sox GM Ben Cherington said before the game that an overhaul of the roster is not yet necessary for the struggling team. "Im betting on the players we have in there," he said. ... Holt extended his hitting streak to a career-high 10 games. ... Wei-Yin Chen makes his 10th career start against the Red Sox in the series finale Wednesday night. Hes 3-3 with a 5.26 ERA. Rubby De La Rosa will start for Boston. ... Markakis 14-game hitting streak ended. ... Baltimores Chris Davis went 0 for 3 with three strikeouts. ' ' 'eam will split $575,000. ' ' '
